What can I expect from my school’s financial aid office?

Your Financial Aid Officer Can Help With Scholarships and Employment Opportunities

One of the best resources for financial aid information and scholarship money is your school's financial aid office. Once you enroll in school and apply for financial aid, a financial aid officer will be assigned to work with you. While your financial aid officer cannot make decisions for you, he or she can be a valuable resource as you try to educate yourself about the many different facets of financial aid assistance.

Your financial aid officer will be able to answer questions about the FAFSA paperwork, as well as provide insight into how your eligibility for financial aid was determined based on your FAFSA.

Additionally, the financial aid officer may be able to help you identify additional sources of funding, such as alternative student loans, state grant programs, and even help you find scholarship money or employment opportunities. It can't hurt to get to know your financial aid officer. When you are trying to figure out how to pay for college, input from someone who is knowledgeable can be very helpful.
